Light and shadow
These are the only two pictures I took in the two weeks I was in Quebec. In a brief moment of inspiration in one of the rare instances that the sun was out, I snapped this. It’s interesting how it reflects my experience of these past two weeks. The contrast, the light side and the shadow side of the soul. The end of life and the beginning of life (as I met a few of my friends’ new babies), love and hate, fear and hope…
And the whole time I was rocked by the poetry of Leonard Cohen and his son Adam… And I could see my own humanity reflected back at me under that choppy light, this messy life…
I am sitting in Toronto right now, in between flights, glad to be going back on Yukon time, to the land of the midnight sun, the land of healing… Even if I feel like I left a piece of my heart in Quebec with my ailing grandma, my mom, my dad and all the wonderful friends I got to see only once…
“There is strong shadow where there is much light.”
― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
